Governance / Local-first

Local-first does not mean isolated.

LibreTask keeps task state on the user's machine by default while allowing explicitly approved external capabilities when the contract permits them.

THE DEFAULT

Keep the source of truth close.

Contracts, execution events, capability metadata, and delivery packages are designed around local persistence and export. A hosted dashboard is not required for the task to remain legible.

  • SQLite stores contracts and the event history.
  • Task state can be reconstructed from recorded events.
  • Deliverables are exportable as Markdown and JSON.
  • Cloud sync and multi-device collaboration are later roadmap items.

THE EXCEPTION

External work should be visible at the moment it becomes possible.

When a capability can send data outside the device, create an external side effect, or incur cost, the contract and capability card must make that boundary clear before invocation.
